Gili Islands, Indonesia

My first couple of days on Gili Trawangan have been fun and refreshing! There are only horse carts and bicycles, no motorized vehicles allowed! I took a boat here from Bali and we got lucky! A big pod of dolphins joined us, swimming alongside the boat playing and jumping as we neared the islands. This set a great tone for what was ahead!

When I arrived, I found my bungalow, another cute place with a day bed on the front porch overlooking the pool and a fun outdoor bathroom in the back! I love showering with the geckos!! After settling in, I found my friends Ashley and Naithan who I met in Ubud were also here. Ashley and I met for some drinks, fresh fire roasted corn (which is sold from carts all over the island) and an evening of dancing at the beach bars! A night to remember!

Today, I rented a bike and rode around the island. On my journey, I ran into a guy with a stand renting snorkel gear. He told me he had just come in and it was a perfect time to see the sea turtles. Why not? He even offered to take me out and show me to them!!! So amazing!! We saw 7 or 8 of these gentle creatures….whoa dude!! After, I headed out to the reef and saw some colorful fish before continuing on my bike. It was so nice to ride without cars!!

We will see what tomorrow brings, but I’m thinking a early drop in yoga class and then a glass bottom snorkeling tour around all three islands! Until then, hugs!
