Don Khone and the other 3,999 Islands (Part 2)

Carmen arrived and we met up late in the afternoon, just in time to see the sunset at the waterfall! It was nice to see the falls in a different light, and the company couldn’t be beat! We roamed down the little dirt path that followed the river, checking out each view along the way. We both love taking photos and the waterfalls don’t disappoint! This island has such a fun, mellow vibe, it’s nice to explore nature without the crowds!

We made our way out to our bikes as it grew dark. The ride back through the cows was magical as we listened to their unique bells causing a wind chime effect across the pastures. After a couple of beers by the river, we made a plan for the morning, and said goodnight.

The next day, we headed straight to the waterfall after breakfast to enjoy the cool morning air. After gushing over the beauty of the falls, we made our way to the beach, and jumped in the cool water of the Mekong. It was a perfect morning for a swim! Once the sun started to scorch, we moved our towels to a nice shady spot and chatted about so many things….life! It is rare to meet someone who you instantly connect with and have so many things in common…this is Carmen! We laughed, we cried, we hugged, we made silly photos from strange things on the beach, we simply had an amazing day! We will stay in touch and meet again soon, somewhere out there in this big, beautiful world! It is these moments, these friendships, that I cherish so much. This is why I travel!
